Meet Sandy Lou, a two year old female pug! Her petite size and frame makes us think she might be mixed with Chihuahua. Sandy Lou came to our rescue through The Pug Queen foundation in Los Angeleas. Sandy was originally pulled from a shelter in Mexico, so we don't know much about her history. She is full of spunk and energy, but settles down quickly for a good snuggle on the couch (even quicker if you have a blankie she can burrow under.) She loves to give "air kisses" and will gladly wrestle with an old sock if you have one to spare. Sandy has not been tested around cats or children, but she has a sweet demeanor and gets along well with the resident dogs at her foster home. Sandy Lou loves to go on walks, but pulls a bit so a harness is a must. She is mostly potty trained, with only having a few accidents in her foster home. She happly settles into a crate if you need to leave throughout the day, and sleeps well in it at night. However, she would prefer to sleep in bed with her humans, or anywhere you are sleeping if you happen to take a mid-day nap! Sandy will need to go to a home that allows dogs on the furniture, as she eagerly hops onto couches, chairs, and beds to be with her people. Sandy has a tendency to bark at those she doesn't know or new people in the house, but she's "all bark" (no bite or aggressive behavior!) and settles into a snuggle once she gets to know you. She is a little girl with a big personality! She would do well with a playful dog, a mellow canine companion, or as an only dog. Sandy will need patience and love until she realizes she is in a safe place. If you are interested in meeting her, please fill out an application!
