UPDATE 3/31/16: Tempest has had her surgery and is feeling and doing so much better !  She was so uncomfortable she could not be the dog she wanted to be. Now that she is feeling better she gets along better with her furry foster siblings, HOWEVER, she is not fond of meeting other dogs and she now likes to chase the cats !  They are still too fast for her, BOL !  She prefers to hang with her humans and get a loving pat on the head and affection anyway.  Tempest is just a mellow girl who loves to lay in the sun and go for walks. She rarely barks and when she does it is generally for attention.  Her name should have been "Shadow" as she is always one step behind you.  Don't let her age deter you, she has plenty of energy and youth in her .  But her maturity gives her that perfect mellowness that would fit into any home.

Tempest came to us from a shelter in Ohio.  Found as a stray, she lived in a crate for most of her days at the shelter so she is slowly adapting to life in a loving home with her foster family. She had been at the shelter since October. She was such a good girl there, that the staff used her to temperament test new intakes to the shelter, and would co-kennel her with dogs that were struggling with shelter shock and separation anxiety. She had many interested adopters there, but she was continually left behind because she has mammary tumors that the shelter did not have funds to remove. We couldn't bear to leave such a good dog to languish in the shelter, so we brought her home to Buffalo for treatment and surgery. Our friends at Diamonds in the Ruff Rescue have graciously offered to split her vetting costs with us. She is an 8 year old Chow/lab mix looking for a patient home who is willing to work with her to teach her the basics.  She is learning how to nicely walk on a leash and her foster family is working with her.  Tempest is pretty much potty trained and will thrive in right home.

Tempest loves her foster family and gets along great with older kids.  It is unknown how she would be with younger children, but her foster family doesn't think she will have any issues.  She is great with people and simply seeks the love and attention that she truly deserves.  She needs an active home willing to walk her regularly and give her exercise.  Tempest is a sweet, mellow girl who is looking for a family to give her the guidance and affection she has lacked for much of her life.

She is very interested in her feline foster brother and sister but they haven't let her get close enough to find out how they would interact.  Tempest would have to do a meet and greet with any other dogs and cats to see how well they interact.  Put in an app today so that Tempest can find her fur-ever home.
