Sweet Annie has had a rough life. We took her from a very high kill dog pound in Pennsylvania. Annie is about 2 years old and has not had an easy life. While, she's literally an angel walking the earth, she is faced with some medical issues.

The shelter that Annie came from is underfunded and for that reason, dogs that get sick often go without treatment. When Annie arrived, she was very underweight with what seemed like the tail end of kennel cough. When Annie saw our vet, he was shocked by the sound of her lungs. We ran diagnostic tests trying to understand why a healthy, young dog was struggling to breathe. She is heartworm negative, her bloodwork was normal, and her xrays ruled out pneumonia, fungal and bacterial infections. It appears that Annie has scarring in her lungs which is most likely the result of a serious bronchial infection going untreated. We're placing her on a round of antibiotics and sterioids to see if that helps any. If that does not help, we're going to see if a dialator is helpful. For the time being, Annie is not available for adoption. Once we come to a solution or figure out her best treatment plan, we will spay her and place her up for adoption to a smoke free home.

Annie is the nicest dog anyone could ever ask for. She is dog friendly and cat friendly, though she gets a little mischevious around the cat. She is mostly housebroken and the few accidents she's had in her foster home were just because she couldn't hold it early in the morning or while her foster mom was at work. She is also a great dog for a home with children. Though she is larger, she's not one to topple a small child over. She is very gentle! She walks like an angel on the leash and enjoys rides in the car if she can rest her chin on your arm. She loves apples and bananas as treats in her foster home. She's also a kisser when she greets her people. She rarely barks and is just an awesome companion dog in need of a special home. If you are interested in providing Annie with a forever home, we welcome you to submit your adoption application at any time, but please understand that there is no exact solution to Annie's breathing troubles and that she will need a family that is in tune and able to provide the care she needs.
