01475 - Silas
We recently got a call about a little pug boy that a good samaritan was concerned about. We were told he was kept tied to the porch with his dog house and that something was wrong with his eyes. Within a day, we had one of our volunteers on the road going to get this little pugger out of there. Enter, Silas, Si for short. He had some of the worst, most obviously ignored dry eyes we'd ever seen. His foster mom immediately got to it and started flushing his eyes to get the hard shell of dried mucus off of them. His eyes are looking better, but the damage has likely been done and Si probably has limited eye sight. We'll update his info soon after he sees the doctor and really settles into his foster home.
**UPDATE FROM SI'S FOSTER MOM** 12/12/12
Silas' background may be uncertain, but there are a few things that I, his foster mom, are sure of. Silas is an incredibly handsome, sweet, laid-back senior boy who deserves the perfect home in which he can spend his elderly years. He spends most of his day napping on various beds, on throw pillows that his foster pug siblings have pushed off the couch, or in places where he has successfully found the rare, upstate New York December ray of sunshine. When he is not napping, he enjoys jaunts around his fenced-in backyard making sure to take in each and every smell. If he's not ready to come in, he'll head in the opposite direction of my calls, as if to say, 'not now mom, give me just five more minutes.' He looks forward to meal time and is well aware of the sound that his favorite bag of treats makes upon opening. He sits and waits patiently amidst his foster brothers and sister for his turn at an Apple Bacon flavored Fruitables Skinny Mini.
