Teddy came into rescue after we received an emergency call about him. Teddy was left in a cardboard box tied to the door or a vet clinic on a Saturday night. On Sunday, a friend of our rescue was contacted and went to the clinic to find Teddy laying in this box, waiting for someone to help him. She called us and before we knew it, Teddy was being transported to rescue.

Teddy is an older gentleman. He had one of the worst flea infestations we've ever seen. The fleas were absolutely everywhere and gnats were all over him. We got the poor guy to his foster home where he was given a flea bath. Upon drying him, we found sores and matts that were just imbedded with fleas. When Teddy would itch, the poor boy would cry out in pain. His skin is just in horrible shape. Out came the clippers and Teddy got a little trim. Next stop was the vet. Teddy is a chubby little boy at 17 lbs and is between 8-10 years old. Amazingly, Teddy's senior blood panel came back normal and he tested negative for heartworm. He was started on flea and tick topical preventative and interceptor to prevent heart worms. We also started medications to help make Teddy's skin heal and provide him with some much needed relief. Teddy does have neurological issues in his hind end. The vet believes it is something that has occurred as he has aged and not an injury. The reality is that Teddy can walk, though he is not the most stable. He can't do stairs and tends to struggle on slippery surfaces but gets around well outside and on carpet. He is NOT a dog that can go for lots of walks. He is the type that will explore the yard for a few minutes and then wants to make his way back inside to his dog bed. Teddy is nearly toothless but has a great appetite. He is a good boy and sweetly takes goodies from his foster mom. His little tongue pokes out the side of his mouth and is just precious!

Teddy is quite the little gentleman. He was so happy to find a dog bed just for him in his foster home and takes full advantage of it. He is sweet when being pet and will sneak a silly little kiss when the opportunity presents itself. We don't think he can see very well. If he's sleeping, he sometimes wakes startled but never makes any move to bite. He could care less about other dogs or cats- just a good sniff and he is satisfied. Teddy also appears to be housebroken. He has done almost all of his duty outside since coming into rescue and enjoys exploring the yard in the morning.

Teddy is looking for a retirement home. Life has obviously been anything but easy for this little man and he deserves to spend the rest of his life loved and cared for. If you'd like to adopt Teddy, please submit your adoption application today!
