Carmel came to us with 4 other chihuahuas. They were seized during a drug bust in Uniontown, PA and then taken to a kill shelter. We couldn't let these golden oldies die at a shelter when all they've know is inadequate care, so we took them and promised them that they would have the most wonderful senior years.
Carmel is the only one of the 5 that got bad news at the vet. Sadly this girl has a grade 4 of 6 heart murmur and is beginning to go into heart failure. We've started her on cardiac medication but can't predict how much longer she will have with us. It could be 3 months or 3 years. Due to her health, she is not a candidate for surgery and we can not spay her. Carmel is a beautiful girl. She has some hair loss from fleas and infection, a cold and is very underweight at just 2 lbs. She doesn't have a lower jaw any longer and has some difficulty eating so her foster mom is hand feeding her.
We're hoping in the next few weeks, her medication will help bring some improvement to her medical condition. Please keep your fingers and paws crossed for little Carmel. She hasn't even had the chance to know love yet. If you can donate, please do to help Carmel & the others.
