When Max first arrived, it was obvious that he had been neglected for some while. He's a fighter, for sure and spent the first several weeks battling skin, ear, eye and major respiratory issues. He has finally been given the 'thumbs up' from Dr. S and is now showing his true colors. Max is your typical happy-go-lucky Pug. He's incredibly loyal and spends most of his time close to his human's side. He's perfectly housebroken. He loves to go for long strolls and once he's leashed, he's on a mission. He doesn't stop for anything except for a quick drink of water. He's the perfect walking companion. Like a typical brachiocephalic dog, he has a difficult time breathing in warmer temperatures, so Max should have a cooler place to escape the summer heat. He enjoys car rides, just as long as he is high enough to see out the window. His favorite spot to roll is on the console in a big Chevy truck. He spends most of his time napping and prefers it to be on top of a pillow on his human's lap. Children intrigue him, and while he gets along with most dogs, he prefers small dogs like his foster sister, Lola. (He tends to shy away from the larger breeds.) The two of them often break out into a game of chase, tug-of-war with various loofah dog toys, or wrestling matches. He's full of energy but always gentle. Max knows to 'sit' and 'dance' for his favorite Zuke's Mini Bakes Peanut Butter and Blueberryz treats. He looks forward to, but is not in any way demanding of his twice a day, grain free meals. Like his foster sister, he looks forward to the occasional raw hide chew fest and Sweet Potato and Molasses Sweet Spot ice cream treat.
