Coco is a very sweet girl who has really been dealt a bad hand. Coco has been a breeding dog. Her breeder sold her to a poodle breeder (probably to make the already all too plentiful cockapoos). That breeder asked an acquaintance to watch her for a weekend and never returned. When we called both breeders to verify ownership, no one stepped up to take responsibility for Coco and she came into rescue.

Coco is estimated to be 6-8 years old. She is an amazing girl- a true blessing to be around. Unfortunately, after Coco's vet exam, we received bad news. We learned that on top of Coco's obvious problems, a growth near her eye, mammary tumor and being underweight, she was also heartworm positive. X-rays then revealed that Coco has lung cancer. We have proceeded with Coco's heartworm treatment, but there is not much we can do to stop the progression of her lung cancer.

Coco is now 5 weeks into her heartworm treatment. It's difficult to tell how advanced the lung cancer is, but it is terminal and inoperable. Coco could have 6 months or 6 years to live. Once her heart worm treatment is over, we may be able to get a better grasp on how much of an impact the cancer has on her.

We really hurt for Coco. You will not meet a nicer, more gentle and loving dog than she. Coco loves people and children. She happily greets everyone and enjoys a good petting and some snuggle time. She is friendly with all dogs and great with cats. She is just so appreciative of the simple things in life- good food, a warm bed and a little love. We cherish Coco and the joy that she has brought into our lives.

Thanks to very generous donors, we've raised enough money to continue Coco's care. Once she tests negative for heartworm, we will have her spayed and have her growths removed so she can be as comfortable and beautiful as possible. Coco is not sickly. She is a very laid back, quiet, loving 22lb girl and is absolutely stunning! We realize that she is not a dog for everyone, but we hold on to the hope that there is someone out there willing to love Coco the way we have and give her a forever home- a real home for the very first time. Please contact us if you'd like to give Coco a forever home.
