Lady came to us from an extremely high kill dog pound in Virginia. After narrowly escaping euthanasia, Lady came to BP&SBR where she would be safe until her forever home came along.

Lady is a young dachshund mix. She is 1-2 years old and about 20 lbs. Lady is a beautiful girl! We know nothing about her life before the shelter, but we do know that Lady has experienced some kind of trauma. Lady is standoffish with new people and has a strong preference for women. She tends to be very timid when first joining a home, but once she settles, she really blossoms.

Lady does good with other mellow dogs. She is a fearful dog at first so her instincts tell her to protect herself, but once she feels safe, she is very accepting. We are not sure how she will be with all cats as the cats in her foster home sort of stick to themselves and she doesn't have much exposure to them.

Lady has grown to be very lovey dovey with her foster mom. She has this silly habit of showing her teeth and nibbling on her foster mom's fingers when playing. Her housebreaking is coming along slowly and she does very well with frequent trips outside to a green space. Lady is also working on crate training and sleeps quietly in her crate at night.
