Meet Romeo. This handsome little guy had lived a horrendous life until Valentine’s Day 2012. Romeo was rescued by Animal Rescue Corps from a supposed rescue in Wingo, KY. This was no rescue; more like a death camp. Romeo was saved along with about 100 other dogs and taken to a nearby shelter.
We offered to help this handsome guy out. Here’s what his foster mom says about him: “Words can’t describe who cute Romeo is. He is the sweetest dog and has a great temperament. He fits right in with my dog, cat and bird. He is very good eater, he has no problem with another dog eating right next to him or me getting near his food or touching it. Romeo loves it out side he loves to run around the yard and water everything. He does need a coat, he has very fine fur and his little feet get cold, when he starts lifting them I know it’s time to go inside. I have no problem getting him in his crate he sleeps in it all night and doesn’t make a sound. Romeo is a lover, he would be happy to sit in your lap all day. Yesterday I had company I put his bed on the dining room chair and he set there resting all afternoon while we played cards. He would make a great pet for any person because he is just so gentle. After the hard life he has had he deserves to be treated like king.”
Romeo is still making progress with his recovery. He was emaciated and has gained some weight, but we’d like to see him fill out just a little more. When saved, Romeo was severely matted. This has left him with some minor skin issues that are very present with his shaved hair-do. We’ll be keeping an eye on his skin to make sure it improves. Because of Romeo’s past, he understandably needs more training when it comes to his bathroom habits. He does like to tinkle, but can be easily managed with a person who is dedicated to showing him where to eliminate and a belly band.
We are very excited for our little Romeo because we know his days of suffering are over. We’d love to see our handsome little Romeo find the forever home of his dreams where he will be a spoiled, cherished member of the family.
