Alana has been medically cleared by our vet. She is PENDING ADOPTION!

When Alana's owner passed away, she was headed to a local dog pound with a very high kill rate. A neighbor offered to take her in while rescuers worked to find her a safe place so she wouldn't go to the shelter and risk being euthanized. We were contacted & agreed to help. While everyone thought the neighbor really took her in, that wasn't the case. He left Alana in his backyard. These last few weeks have been tough for little Alana. She's been outside exposed to the elements.

Alana is sweet as pie, but unfortunately she arrived extremely matted, with all sorts of yuck stuck in her coat. While her foster family was trying to free her from her matting, they found dozens of ticks all over Alana! To make matters worse, beneath all that hair, Alana is skin & bones. She has no meat on her bones and these little bloodsuckers have been sucking the life right out of her. Everything is going to change now for our precious girl. She has an appointment at the doggy spa Wednesday and we're sure she will gorgeous with her new do. Then Thursday Alana is headed to the vet. We will need to do bloodwork to check for Lyme disease and other tick borne diseases and she will need to be spayed.

Even though Alana has had a rough month, she is a happy girl. She loves absolutely everyone. She enjoys going for walks and looking out the window when she's riding in the car. She loves to snuggle and give kisses and will dance for a treat! She gets along great with other dogs & we think she would do fine with children of all ages. She's incredibly tolerant and easy to handle. Right now she weighs about 8 lbs but should be 13-14lbs. We'll work on getting her back to a healthy weight and getting her ready for her forever home.
