Kizer is something special. He joined us after being picked up as a stray. He was taken to a high kill shelter and then transferred to another shelter to avoid euthanasia and then to our rescue so he would for sure be safe.

After just one night in his foster home, Kizer's foster mom called to ask how long he'd been in the shelter. When we told her he'd been in doggy jail for weeks, she could hardly believe it. He is so well adjusted and sweet- there was certainly someone out there that loved and cared for Kizer and she just couldn't believe that they didn't come for him after he went missing. Kizer is great with the other dogs in his foster home and he totally ignores the cats. He is a senior dog and at least 10 years old. He is not into causing trouble or being rambunctious- he is a very laid back guy who just wants a person to adore, a warm bed and some good food.

Aside from the normal old man bumps and teeth that arn't brand new, Kizer is in good health. It's hard to tell from his pictures (new ones coming soon), but Kizer is a tripod. Just to further our beliefs that someone once loved Kizer, his front leg was amputated quite some time ago and has long since healed. He must have been injured at some point, but we don't know when or how it happened. He does just fine with 3 legs and gets around unassisted. Kizer's foster mom is just smitten with him. He loves to sleep by your side and is a loyal, loving companion dog. He has had some training, but after spending so long in a cage at the shelter, he needs some reinforcement. We're working on that now and he's doing great.
