Lila came to BP&SBR as a surrender when her owner could no longer care for her. She is a 2 year old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix.

Lila arrived with some of the worst urine soaked matting we've ever seen. After nearly, a complete shave down by our friends at Paw Spings Pet Spa, Lila emerged a beautiful, but severly emaciated little girl. Lila has not eaten normal meals in quite some time. As a result of the starvation Lila has endured, she's become quite possessive of her food. She does not want it taken from her and she certainly doesn't want any other dogs getting her share. Lila will gulp her food down as fast as possible as seek out food whenever possible. Her foster family is hand feeding her most of her 4 small meals she gets each day. In just a short time, Lila has already begun filling out. We feel that her obsession with food will decrease as Lila learns to understand that her meals will always be part of her daily life.

As Lila's weight improved, her energy level picked up as well. She loves affection and loves to curl up up on your lap and fall asleep. It takes Lila a few days to accept other dogs but once she is settled, she does just fine. She is in a foster home with 3 other dogs and 4 cats and and gets along with all of them. We are working with her to become fully housebroken and she has begun her crate training which has been very helpful. On occasion, she does have accidents, but it's a work in progress. Once Lila puts more weight on, she will be going in to be spayed.
