Phoebe is a 4 year old catahoula leopard dog mix. Here's what her foster mom writes:

Phoebe is one of my most favorite foster dogs. If our home wasn't a revolving door for homeless dogs, we'd adopt her. However, we know there is someone out there that will love and appreciate her as much as we do.

Phoebe joined our family in November with 7 nursing puppies after narrowly escaping the gas chamber at a kill shelter. Just the thought of what could have happened to Phoebe brings tears to my eyes. Phoebe was a defeated dog when she arrived. She had no confidence and though she craved affection and attention, she wasn't confident enough to snuggle or approach me. After a week of sitting on the floor until my legs were numb trying to get her to trust me, I decided to just go for it. I grabbed her and held her until she relaxed. From that moment on, we've watched Phoebe blossom. She gives more love than we could ever return to her and she appreciates everything we give her or do. She does need reassurance from time to time and can be frightened of loud noises or unfamiliar things, but we guide her along and she's done great.

Her puppies have been adopted and now it's her turn. She deserves it! She is 95% housebroken and will whine to let us know she needs to go outside. She promptly does her business when outside and comes in wagging her tail anticipating her treat. She loves her crate and uses it as her safe place. She is light-footed and very gentle. She just wants to be loved. She's found the confidence to approach people and is a magnificent companion. She has met children and we were so proud to see her respond well to them. We do feel that she would thrive in a more quiet, very loving home with older children who will be kind and gentle towards her, but younger visiting children would be okay with supervision. We've also made some progress socializing her with other dogs. She will need to meet the resident dog in your home, but has started to trust other dogs much more.

Please give this wonderful girl a chance. Come meet her and you'll see just why we love her so much. She would make a wonderful companion for a kind person or family who has some love to spare.
