Update 4/21/12: Violet is now heartworm negative and chubby! She is finally in good health thanks to the very hard work of her foster parents and the wonderful vets at Brighton Animal Hospital!

Meet Violet. At just a few months old, Violet was adopted from an overcrowded shelter down south. Everyone thought it was her lucky day. 5 years later, Violet was picked up as a stray. She was severly emaciated and tests revealed she was heartworm positive. Whoever adopted her broke their promises and discarded Violet. But, we're not going to dwell on that. Their loss, our gain.

Violet is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out. She is in a foster home with another boxer, young children and even a cat. She is perfect with everyone. Violet is not feeling her best right now, but has put on a little weight in just the last few days.

Test confirmed that Violet is anemic and she needs to gain weight as well as go through very painful heartworm treatment. After her treatment, she will remain on crate rest until the worms are gone. She is currently on antibiotics and steriods so we can resolve her auto-immune issues before her heartworm treatment begins. Violet is finally safe- she will never ever be unwanted or discarded again. Please consider sponsoring Violet and giving her something to be thankful for this holiday season.
