Please meet Mabel, a 6 year old Toy Poodle who was found as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter.
Mabel pulls everyone's heartstrings. This pretty girl was fending for herself long enough to loose some of her weight. She is a bit on the thin side and at an appropriate weight she will be about 8 lbs. When Mabel arrived, we noticed that her nails had been painted pink. The nail polish was clearly visable on her back toes, but had worn off of the front. That simply means that Mabel once had a person who loved and cared for her. We just can't figure out why they didn't come to the shelter to get her. She waited for weeks.
Mabel is now settling into her foster home. She is a sweet, friendly girl. She is easily picked up and loves to snuggle and take naps on her foster family's lap. Mabel does like other dogs her size but is frightened by big dogs. She likes treats and peanut butter and also likes being able to rest on the couch or in her dog bed. She is not yet housebroken, but we're working on it. Mabel would be a great companion dog for someone who has the time and love to give her. She would do fine in a home with another dog that is similar in size and children 8+. She is very quiet and mild mannered and is just looking for someone to love.
