Zoe is a beautiful, petite 5 year old Beagle gal that was recently released from a medical lab. She has spent her entire life being used as a tool to research dogs and to help train veterinary students. She has missed out on all the simple things that dogs deserve, like a warm bed, a mom or dad, long walks, treats, hugs and worst of all until now, Zoe did not have a name. It is now time for Zoe to know what it feels like to live in a home and have a family.

Little Zoe is just shy of 20lbs and is so precious. She is well socialized with dogs and was not phased when her canine foster family leaned in to get a sniff. She is confident among the others and did not submit; nor did she walk in and try to run the show. She is a nice, mild girl who enjoys the companionship of other dogs. Zoe loves people as well. She is affectionate and friendly and will put her paws on her foster mom's lap for some gentle petting or some kisses. She is the perfect family dog. We feel Zoe would do well in a home with children as well.

Zoe is not your typical beagle. So far, she has been very calm and quiet in her foster home. She tends to just go with the flow. She is inquisitive but cautious when approaching things she has never seen before. She does not run and hide, but instead pokes around and checks it out and settles down once she is finished with her investigation. Her energy level appears to be much less than the typical beagle. She will prance around and walk proudly in the yard, but does not bounce or jump around. She is a funny little girl at the food bowl. She takes 3 big mouthfuls of food and sets them down on the floor in 3 separate piles. Then she will go back and eat them one by one and repeat the routine over again. She is quite the little lady!

Zoe walks well on a leash and does not pull. She would rather be by your side than anywhere else. She has begun using puppy pads in her foster home and her foster mom will continue to show her that outside is the place to go. Since Zoe has spent her 5 years of live confined, we understand that her potty habits will be a work in progress and her forever family will need to understand this as well. Considering the short time she has been in her foster home, we can tell she is going to be quite a fast learner. We hope that Zoe will soon find the forever home of her dreams so she can leave her painful past behind her and erase those memories with happy, loving ones!
