Rusty was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter by his owner when she was done breeding them. At risk of being euthanized at the shelter, Rusty joined our rescue.

Rusty is a sweet, but bashful boy. He is very receptive when talked to sweetly and has bonded closely to his foster mom. Rusty's previous owner sent a little letter about him which said that she just 'didn't get around to training him.' We rolled our eyes and threw that away. Rusty is a good boy. His foster family is happy to give him the opportunity to see what life is all about. He is doing well with his potty training, is crate trained and sweet. His foster mom says that when she picks him up, he just melts into her. Rusty is not really sure about what toys are and what he is supposed to do with them. He is curious about them and will sniff and sometimes even bat at them, but he does not yet understand that they are for him!

Rusty is great with the other dogs in his foster home and doesn't pay any attention to the cats in the house. He is good with children, but can easily become nervous when in chaotic situations so older children would be best. When nervous, Rusty has the tendency to scamper away and hide so we'd prefer a more calm household for this boy. His leash walking is fast improving but there are still times when he is unsure. Rusty needs a loving home with people that will continue building his confidence.
