Please meet our newest handsome gentleman! This is Copper. He joined our rescue when his owner fell ill and was no longer able to physically care for him.
Copper is a wonderful little guy. He is sweet, affectionate and extremely well behaved! Copper is perfectly housebroken. He will go to the door to alert you when he has to go. He is also crate trained and goes inside his crate when told to do so. He walks well on a leash and is the perfect companion. Copper loves to wiggle underneath the covers at night and sleep with his person. He also loves to chew his bones and oftentimes he retreats under the couch with his bone and all you see is his little tail and 2 stubby legs sticking out! He even sings to you when you tell him he is a “good boy!”
Copper has lived with older children and has been in a home where young children visit. He is good with children but we feel he would be happiest with children 12 years of age or older. In True Dachshund fashion, Copper is very loyal to his people. A change in environment may frighten him, but with a little time, he settles in nicely and is such a great little guy. He is fine with other dogs as well. He has been exposed to cats and sometimes will chase but is easily corrected and he does not mean any harm.
