Darla was dropped of at an overcrowded shelter in Ohio on Easter Sunday. Unfortunately, in her short 8 weeks of life, this girl has already seen how cruel some people can be.

At about 6 weeks of age, neighbors found Darla running freely in rural Ohio. They went door to door until they found Darla's family, who quickly took her back. On Easter Sunday, the same neighbors again found Darla running around freely and carried her back home. This time, her owners said to let her go. They did not want her anymore. The neighbor noted that in those 2 weeks, the puppy had become very skinny and promptly brought her to the shelter.

We scooped Darla up the minute we saw her and felt there was no way we were going to leave her behind. Darla may be skinny, but from every other aspect, she is a happy, healthy puppy. Darla is believe to be a mixture of a variety of terrier breeds. She should be about 40 pounds full grown, but considering her current poor body condition, our vet feels she may remain on the small side.Darla has put on weight since her arrival to rescue. She is thriving! We gave Darla a birthdate of 2/272011,so her new parents can celebrate it with her.

Darla has settled into her foster home nicely. She is fine with the other dogs, big and small, she is very interested in the foster mom's cat and barks at it,the cat even swiped at it once but it did not deter her from barking. She would do well in a home with children as well. She has started to go tinkle outside, but in true puppy fashion, she saves a little bit for inside the house as well. She would love to have a fenced in yard and must have a family committed to teaching her all the things that puppies need to learn during this stage of their life.
