Darby was picked up by humane officers in Ohio after spending his whole life locked in a garage; denied access to the outside, human interaction and warmth.

Darby is such a success story. He has escaped his previous life and left all of that despair behind him. He is a happy boy with a nub that never stops wagging and a body that wiggles with excitement most of the day. Darby loves people but still holds a little apprehension with new people. He is always friendly but walks up with caution. After a few seconds of sniffing, he becomes your best friend. We have yet to hear Darby bark and he has a great disposition in and out of the home. Inside, Darby is fairly mellow. He likes to sit near his people and snuggle on the couch. He is great for walks and though he pulls a bit, with a gentle reminder, he stops. Darby is a gentle boy. He is not much of a jumper but when he does place his paws on you, he does it so gently and lightly. He is so thrilled to begin his new life and spends much of his time in the barkyard chasing around the birds flying overhead.

Darby is phenomenal with other dogs and seems to be on the submissive side. We are unsure how Darby would be with cats but would be willing to test him to be sure. Darby would also be fine with children 5+. He may be fine with younger children as well, but because we do not know if he has been exposed to children previously, he will not go to a home with children under 5. Darby is not yet housebroken but is doing well. With regular trips outside, he has only had one accident in his foster home so his new family should expect to take him outside frequently until he gets the hang of it.
