Sanford is an outstanding basset hound boy who was found as a stray in Kentucky. We jumped at the chance to bring him into our rescue and are sure he will find a great home, after all, Sanford is certainly something special.

Long ears and short tree trunk legs are just part of Sanford’s charm. After spending a few minutes sitting on the floor with him, I feel like I have made a lifelong friend. He is happy to come over and nuzzle his head into you and if you allow it, he will gently put his front paws on your lap and lean into you savoring every second of attention he is given. He is the perfect big/little dog mixture with a short but long stature that we find irresistible! He will happily sit while you clean his big ears and give you the occasional kiss expressing his gratitude! Sanford also goes belly up when he is ready for a tummy rub and you can see the sheer bliss in his soulful eyes! He is quickly learning new commands and manners and is doing pretty well. He loves food and will happily sit in anticipation of a treat. He is working on his house manners and though recently neutered, he has no desire to mark his territory. We doubt he could lift those stubby legs high enough if he tried!

Sanford has really bonded with the dogs in his foster home and happily prances around playing with them! He certainly has lots of spunk in him and would really enjoy the company of another dog. We’d love to find sweet Sanford a forever home with a fenced in yard so he can sniff around in safety. He is fine with children as well!! He happily greets children, but due to his size, children 5+ would be best.
