In a few short weeks, it will have been a year since Journey came into our rescue. She was a stray that was brought into a kill shelter. She was rescued, but soon after, that group returned her to the shelter saying she was too unsocialized for adoption. We decided to help her.

Journey has been in foster care since the day she arrived into rescue. She's been fostered by a trainer for the last 8 months. What is immediately obvious about Journey is that she loves other dogs. She doesn't share that love for people. She's semi-feral. Her life revolves around the relationships that she quickly forms with other dogs and although she appreciates the food and treats people provide her with, she does all she can to avoid interacting with people. She is not a mean dog or a biter- she's just scared of people. She will approach when a treat is offered, but is careful to stay just out of our reach. She is happiest when playing or cuddling with another dog- or 2 – or 3.

We realize that Journey is not a “normal” dog- but that doesn't make her any less deserving than a cookie-cutter perfect dog. When a person is hurt by another, they often have a hard time trusting other people that come into their life- however, we don't doom those kind of people to death or reject them from society. Journey is no different- she's been hurt and is afraid to trust, but she still deserves to know that someone loves her and that she has a home where she is wanted forever. The minute we agreed to take Journey from the shelter, we promised her that she'd never see the inside of a shelter again and that we will make sure she gets her happily ever after. Well, rescue NEVER quits and we will not fail this dog.

Here is what we're looking for in a home for Journey:

  1. Unconditional Love: Journey is not going to show her gratitude because she's afraid to, but when you watch her romp in the yard with another dog- you'll see just how happy she truly is. That is her way of saying 'thank you.'

  2. Other Dogs: The dogs are Journey's family. She loves ALL other dogs- both big and small. She likes to snuggle with other dogs and loves to play. She will follow them in and out of the house and feels safe when in the company of other dogs.

  3. Fenced Yard: This is a must for Journey's safety. She is a quick, compact 12lb dog who loves to run and feel “free.” She is trained to go to the bathroom outside. She will follow the other dogs in and out of the house.

  4. A Selfless Person: We are looking for someone who wants to adopt Journey, because they want to be the hero in her life. This is going to be someone who is more concerned about what they can give to this dog; rather than someone who is concerned with what this dog can give to you.

We're looking for a special home for Journey because she is a special dog. She deserves to know what it feels like to have a real home. Journey is housebroken, in good health, spayed, vaccinated and tested negative for heartworm. She is also microchipped and a beautiful, unique looking dog looking for a special someone who will accept her and think that she is perfect just the way she is. If that person is you, please contact us or submit an adoption application.
