Albus is a 2 year old Boxer who was turned into an overcrowded shelter in Ohio as a stray. He is emaciated at 39 lbs, and should be about 55-60 lbs. Not only was he starved, his nails were not kept trimmed and his toes are somewhat splayed. He has a few scars, calluses from possible confinement and also a few fresh boo boos we are taking care of.

Since Albus has moved into his foster home, we have found he needs to understand that he WILL get his next meal, and right on time. He doesn't understand this and will drink every last drop of water you put in his bowl as soon as you refill it. He also likes to counter surf, so his foster mom can't keep any food or treats any where Albus can reach. He doesn't touch anything unless it is food. A big concern is the stove. Right now, he needs to be watched if it is being used. He showed too much interest in a pot of rice-a-roni and it had to be moved to the back burner. His foster mom and dad will be working on his manners, teaching him the counters and stove are off limits. He appears to have no previous training, but is quickly learning "sit" and "paw", and is slowly learning "off". He does try to put both front paws up on his foster mom, which would not be safe for a small child. Hopefully he catches on to "off" quickly!

Albus is in a foster home with 5 female bulldogs ranging from 17-57 lbs and loves them all. He is very submissive and will get along with most dogs. He doesn't know what toys are, but loves nylabones and bully sticks. He is completely house trained and so far, doesn't venture very far when let out in the fenced yard. He knows where food is and doesn't want to miss out on any meals! He is the sweetest, most gentle dog and just loves attention. He is a great passenger, as long as he rides shotgun or can sit next to someone. He loves walks, but does pull a bit. It is unknown if Albus likes cats, he will be tested soon.

Albus is neutered, up to date on his shots, tested negative for heartworm, has been dewormed and is healthy other than his weight and some minor cosmetic cuts and scrapes. He is currently on medicine for his digestion and is eating a high calorie/high fat food 3 times a day with 2 snacks a day of scrambled eggs and cottage cheese. He will remain on medical hold until he is at a healthy weight. He is certainly worth waiting for!

Albus is being fostered in Rochester.
