Monty was your typical puppy, purchased from a breeder and then returned soon after because he was too shy. The breeder was convinced that “bad genes” were the reasoning behind his bashful nature, so he gave Monty and his mother away to whomever would take them. Monty ended up passing through the hands of one of our volunteers and is now in our rescue.

Monty is about 6 months old and cute as a button! He has the prettiest curly hair and though his legs are long, he is still just about 10lbs. His background would lead you to believe that Monty is skittish and unsocialized, but we’d argue that! He seems like a very typical puppy to us. Even in a new environment like his foster home, he is doing just great! He eagerly comes up to people for treats and attention, prances around the house with his foster fur-brothers and fur-sisters and searches out the warmest spot in the house for nap time. He enjoys toys and gives his foster family lots of puppy kisses. He has made friends with all of the other dogs in his foster home. Most of them will romp around with him and sometimes wrestle around on the couch. Even the little Chihuahua of the house seems to enjoy his company. He is very respectful of her and her space and sometimes, we catch them snoozing together.

Monty is doing great with his housebreaking but will need a little more work and a routine should be established in his forever home. He knows that he is supposed to go outside, but sometimes doesn’t make it. We know he is trying! He is good in his crate at night. He will whimper a bit at first, but soon after settles down and he has never messed in there.

We think Monty would be just fine in a home with children of any age. Though, he sometimes can be a bouncy, happy puppy, he is still careful and gentle. He is not a nibbler either, and really enjoyed the time he spent with his foster mom’s 4 year old nephew. He is very tolerant and sweet!
