Rocco is a wonderful 8 year old English Bulldog that was surrendered to a shelter when his owner was moving.

Rocco is in excellent health for his age, he is quite able and loves to play with his foster mom and trot around the backyard. He is very affectionate and loves to give kisses and snooze with his humans at night. He is housebroken has only had one accident inside. He has a sensitive tummy, and has been eating a high quality, grain free food, which he should remain on. He is great with the other dogs in his foster home. They are all much smaller than him and for a big guy, he is very cautious with them. He is pretty laid back, so we don’t think he would mind cats, but would need to check before placing him. Rocco loves to snooze on the couch. Because he is so well behaved in the house, his foster family has not been crating him (he is crate-trained, though!). He does not get into any trouble or make messes, and it seems like he spends his alone time keeping the couch cushions warm. He needs to be on a harness when being leash walked and does pull a bit. He is however, very receptive to his name being said and is corrected easily.

Rocco had 4 benign masses removed and a dental done. He has all his shots, is neutered and just looking for that special home. We think a home without children would be best, because this big baby gets nervous when there is too much chaos! Older children 13+ or visiting children would be fine.

Now for the physical side of things… Rocco is much larger than the dogs we normally have in our rescue and you will not see a dog above 35lbs very often, but seeing a senior boy in a shelter is such a huge injustice! Rocco is approximately 55lbs and on the short, stocky side. He is not very large, but is solid. He does not know how to go up and down stairs! Please do not apply if you have more than 3-4 stairs in the home that he will need to use when entering/exiting the home. It took him some time to figure out the stairs in his foster home, and the thought of an entire flight of stairs terrifies him. This boy is probably not suited for apartment living.
