Tucker is a sweet shih tzu boy that was found stray in Kentucky. He was skinny and matted and when his time was starting to run out at the shelter, Buffalo Pugs stepped in to help!

Tucker made his way up here and is now living the good life in his foster home. Upon arriving we noticed that he still had some areas of matted fur. After cutting the mats out, we found that the long term twisting and pulling of knotted fur had caused his skin to weaken in a few places and large sores had developed. He is on antibiotics to prevent infection and an ointment to assist with the healing. In no time, he will be good as new. He does walk funny with high steps, and it’s likely a neurological issue. We have no background on him, because he was a stray so there is no telling what kind of physical trauma he may have sustained. It doesn’t seem to bother him. He prances around just fine and the vet feels that no further treatment is necessary.

This boy is approximately 4 years old but has the spirit of a puppy. He is so happy-go-lucky and friendly! He loves all people and is great with children of any age! He likes other dogs and would likely do just fine with cats as well. Tucker is making up for lost time and loves to snuggle. He would love to find a family that is willing to cuddle and love him. He has clearly missed out on having a family, but we are committed to changing that!

He will need a family that is patient and willing to help him learn better potty manners. He is starting to use puppy pads, but will need further training and lots of positive reinforcement.

Once this sweet guy is all healed up, he will be ready to go to his forever home. We are sure he won’t be in rescue long so submit your adoption application today!
