It is with a sad heart that we inform you that Little Theo has crossed the Rainbow Bridge after an intense fight with pneumonia. As little as he may have been, his grip upon our hearts was tremendous and he is very truly missed by all of us. We'd like to send a warm thank you to his foster family for the tremendous amount of support and love they so willingly gave to Theo. We are so thankful to have had the chance to know and love Theo.

Say hello to our little Theo. He and several other dogs were removed from a hoarding situation and found temporary comfort in a shelter that works so hard to get their dogs to safety. We could not pass up the opportunity to give him the love he so clearly deserves so tiny Theo, Cubby and Foxy hopped on the first train to NY and are now safe in their foster homes.

Like many dogs from hoarding situations, Theo is comfortable around dogs but is nervous at first around people. He doesn’t growl or yip but shivers until he realizes he is safe. At five years old, he is just now beginning to experience the world and human companionship, in the comfort of his foster home.

He has never before been leash walked, and rarely has he been outside, or experienced human affection. As you can imagine, life in a home can be quite intimidating for this guy for whom everything is new, but he is quickly coming around. He clearly enjoys the outdoors. He quickly perks up and begins to prance through the grass, wagging his white-tipped tail. He took his first walk on a leash today. Just two days ago, a leash and collar were completely new to him! He is making little strides everyday and blossoming into the little dog that he was always meant to be! So he far has had no accidents in the house. He will need a human that is gentle and patient and willing to teach him manners that he never had the opportunity to learn.

Despite his nerves, Theo’s spirit pervades. You can tell he is listening when his ears perk up and he looks at you with his soulful eyes. Of course, for humans it is so easy to fall in love with him. He is a quiet, gentle dog who needs a forever home that will give him boundless love, attention, and who will be understanding of his needs. He would be happier with older kids who know to be gentle and patient, since he is only 8 lbs. He gets along with dogs many times his size and just walks away if he doesn’t want to play.
