Hello! My name is Anya. I am a female black pug and I am 5 years old. My hobbies are eating, chewing my bones, playing and sleeping (in that order). I am completely potty trained, but sometimes I like to ‘hold it’ and you need to remind me to go outside. I am also trained to sleep in a crate when nobody is home so I can’t get myself into any trouble. I’m not too good on the ‘sit’, ‘lay’, ‘shake paw’ stuff yet, but would love it if someone had the time to teach me. I absolutely LOVE food so I can learn to do ANYTHING if you give me the proper motivation! I also LOVE sleeping on your lap too (not next to your lap, but actually IN your lap would be my preference!) I am a great sleeper, but because I am a pug, I tend to snore a bit. Don’t make fun! You try sleeping with a pushed in nose! I get along very well with my foster pug brothers and sister. I haven’t experienced cats yet, but I think I would be able to get along with them if given the chance. I’m still trying to get used to people treating me with the love and affection that I deserve, so sometimes I get a little shy and nervous. So probably a family with older kids, or no kids would be best. I can’t lie… I do have one bad habit. My foster mommy feverishly tries to get me to stop biting her pant legs when I want to play! I can’t imagine why. It’s so much fun!

I came from a bad situation. My previous owners used me for breeding only and they didn’t really love me. When they were done using me they didn’t want me anymore and were going to leave me in my crate to die when I got sick. I had medical problems and they wouldn’t take me to the doctor to try to help me out, so the wonderful people at Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue took me in and got me the medical treatments I needed. We still have a few outstanding issues that are being looked at and that is why I’m on medical hold right now. As soon as the Vet gives me a clean bill of health, I’ll be ready to go to my new forever home. Does anybody want to take me home and love me forever?

We are currently taking applications for Anya while we finish all of her follow-up vetting. Her condition has improved dramatically since she came to us in November and we anticipate she will now be able to live a long, healthy and happy life. Anya is being fostered in Rochester.
