Meet Mississippi (Missy for short). This adorable little gal is about 7 weeks old, 8 pounds and looking for love. Why isn't she still with her Mom and littermates at this age? Well, she and her family were victims of Hurricane Katrina. Missy's Mom tried to take care of her little family but once her milk dried up from lack of food and water, her pups became very sick. Luckily they were found and Missy and her Mom recovered - the others were not so lucky. Missy was in vet care in Mississippi when a BP&SBR volunteer ran across her. She flew back to NY and is now ready to fly into your heart!

We have no idea what breeds Missy is (but her Mom looked like a medium sized Shepard mix). Our vet has estimated that she will top out under 50 pounds. But this is just a guess! We are looking for an adopter who will love her no matter how big or small she is! Missy is a very smart little girl who seldom makes "mistakes" in the house. She has a very healthy appetite and loves to play with her foster sisters and brothers. At this age, sleeping is still a major priority in her life.
