Homer is a beautiful, red, standard dachshund that lost his mom when she went to college in NYC. She was devastated parting with him but knew that he wouldn't be happy living in the city when he was used to the country. He would also be left alone a lot and Homer loves to be near his people. Homer is warming up to his foster family's household. He had never been around other dogs and although he is kept separated from the other dogs when no one is home he is starting to play and snuggle up with them when they are. At first he was interested in their cats but now he just accepts them. He follows his foster mom everywhere she goes. Each evening he eagerly awaits the blissful moment when his family heads for bed because he knows that he'll be snuggled in under the covers between his foster parents. Yes, he does sleep with people. He hates the crate and we were told he was only put in it when he was being disciplined. The family uses a gate to confine him to one room when they are not home. Homer is more nervous of men than women but after a few days he is beginning to hang out with dad or brother instead of mom. Homer is housebroken and is very verbal when he needs to go out. He loves walks and is great on a leash. He also loves to go for rides. Although Homer likes to be by people he doesn't want to be bothered when he is resting and he will growl. Otherwise he likes to be petted and welcomes a scratch on the back. If you think that you and this funny, little sweetheart are a match please fill out an application today!
