Sedate and serene. Meek and mannerly. Dutiful and docile. Relaxed and refined.

Oh wait…we’re talking about a 7 month old purebred Toy Fox Terrier puppy. Those words won’t do at all. Let’s try these instead: Active and alert. Quick and courageous. Mischievous and merry. These little dogs consider themselves the center of the universe, and expect their owners to treat them accordingly. If they aren’t given what they want, they will find a way to get it anyway. Locks, latches, gates and refrigerator doors are easily surmountable obstacles in the fox terrier’s quest for fun and satisfaction. A game of fetch is not over until the fox terrier says it’s over (and that’s not going to be for a long time). A long walk is only a warm-up for these dogs; they have endless, boundless energy. Fox terriers will fit on your lap, but they certainly won’t stay there for long.

Fox Terriers are bold little dogs requiring bold-hearted owners, those with the patience to equal their personalities and the stamina to equal their joie de vivre. Fox Terriers demand attention, activity, and adoration…and the last, those who know will tell you, is never difficult to give.
