UPDATE 11/4/04: With some tender loving and firm training, Spunky is improving GREATLY. His foster mom is so impressed with all that he has accomplished over the last 3 1/2 weeks. Could you be the right family to give spunky the love that he is seeking as well as the commitment and patience needed to continue his training? If so, you will be greatly reward with the love from this sweetheart.Update 10/9: Look who is back!! Spunky found his way back to rescue because he went to a home with two toddlers and an infant and proved to be too much for the family. Spunky is a puppy at heart. He is a happy-go-luky sweetheart who just wants a home where someone will play with him and shower him with love. He loves to play fetch, tug-a-war, and just about any game that allows him to interact with someone because he has soooo much love that he wants to share. Spunky loves to go for car rides and walks - he walks very nicely!! He is crate trained. He will require someone with patience and love when it comes to his basic commands since he is soooo happy to have someone give him attention, he gets very exceited. Spunky's is pretty much housebroken and will scratch/cry at the door to go out but sometimes, he does forget to go potty outside because he gets so exceited to be outside. His foster mother is working on his basic commands and he is coming along great. He will definately steal your heart with his droppy face and fun loving personality. Could you be the person to give Spunky the furever home with the love and attention he so deserves? This boy is an adorable one!

Original Post: Spunky has the best of both breeds to say the least. Just looking at his face, you can see both the basset and the beagle in him and it gives him quite a bit of character! Spunky enjoys being around his people, kids included, and doesn't mind the company of other dogs or even cats. He is a mature boy that won't give much trouble at all. He just wants to have himself a home that will be the one he always dreamed about but never knew... will you be that special adopter that can show Spunky what life for a dog should really be like?
