Our hearts broke today when we went on a standard owner surrender call. What we encountered was the worst neglect case we had ever seen in our rescue. The owner said he simply needed to surrender a toy poodle to us because his landlord caught him with two dogs when he was only supposed to have one. He said she had a minor flea infestation and that she had a "couple" of bald spots that should grow back in no time... so far, so typical. When we arrived, we were not expecting to find the dog that we found. She was mutilated beyond breed recognition. She had running and open sores all over her almost naked body and she was coated with fleas from head to toe. She looked like a monster. No one ever bothered to treat her fleas and no one bothered to take her to the vet... she was allowed to scratch herself into a scarred and tattered mess that she may now never recover from.

We took her to the vet and the vet said there was alot that would be needed to get this girl back in shape. In addition to the skin treatments, she will need to have a tumor removed from her underbelly and a lot of work done in her mouth (where she has hair growing and everything else from years of licking and biting at her fur and flesh). We want to help this girl, but we need your help! If everyone that felt any bit of compassion for Ginger just gave a dollar to help her recover, that dollar would go a long way! Please help us help her by either clicking the 'Donate' button in the menu bar above (simply enter 'for Ginger' in the description field on paypal, or send us some spare change to: 12405 Clinton Street, Alden, NY 14004
