PUPPIES PUPPIES EVERYWHERE!!
OH MY!! We are overflowing with puppies!! We took in a female pug who was given to us by someone who thought she was sick and couldn't afford to take care of her medical expenses. It turned out that poor little Candy girl isn't sick, she's PREGNANT!! Candy is due to give birth to her pups any day and will sadly probably have to have a C-Section because she is so tiny and her puppies are not and also, she is between 6 and 8 years old - far too mature for birthing puppies! We are all praying for Candy to get through this ok and for her puppies to arrive safely. UPDATE - Day 1! We have 5 baby girls!! All the babies and mom are doing good so far and are resting tonight. Mom is having a rough time and isn't able to help her babies, but we will take over for her until she is feeling better. UPDATE - As it is clear that Candy has no milk, and Dixie does, we have relocated the pug puppies to Buffalo and sweet Dixie is nursing them like they were her own! There was a reason why these two mommas came in at the same time!! We hope that some momma's milk and nurturing will help them thrive! Thanks Dixie!! Baby pictures are here! Click on the picture of the puppies to see more of them.
UPDATE - Sadly we have now lost four of the five girls. They just were too small and unhealthy to thrive. So far, Cecilia is hanging on though. She has gained 3 ounces since going to stay with her surrogate mom. Please pray with us that she continues to do well! At the same time, we agreed to take a little min pin girl from a shelter to save her from being euthanized, and SURPRISE, she is pregnant and ready to give birth any day too!! Dixie is a sweet girl and we will help her through this and do all we can to keep her and her puppies healthy and find them all great forever homes. UPDATE - Day 1! Between 2 and 5 a.m. 4/22, Dixie gave birth to five babies - 3 girls and 2 boys! She did a great job and is taking wonderful care of her babies, as well as Candy's! Dixie is a wonderful mom and we hope that she and all her kids and foster kids will continue to do well. Dixie's pups are doing great and getting very plump! They are three times the size of Candy's babies, so we know they have a much better chance than those girls did.
THEN, we got a call from a Rochester shelter asking if we could help 11 four week old shepherd mix puppies who lost their mother. To see pictures of the puppies, click on the picture below of Tiny, Fat Boy and Teeny. Puppies, puppies, puppies!!! We are just overwhelmed with all the puppies!

We are happy to be able to help these moms and pups, but it is putting a heavy burden on our resources right now. All of these puppies need puppy formula, food, pee pads, and vetting!! We are calling on all of our wonderful supporters to help us help these babies start life out right. Please help us if you can, in ANY way you can!

Hi, My name is Bruce. I was born in a terrible home where they where hording animals. Sadly I had to live in a crate for 9 months. A wonderful woman met me and took me away from all that. However she was unable to keep me and asked Buffalo Pug and Small Breed Rescue to help me find a loving home all my own. I am so lucky and now have the opportunity to live a wonderful happy life. I need some help with potty training because I was left in the crate so long and had to do my business right where I slept! I now am able to run in the grass and do my business outside and I love the idea! I am trying really hard to learn all these new things and doing well with it. I am now fully vetted and ready to start my new life! I am being fostered in Rochester!

Riley and his sister Zoe (fka Yuna) were adopted last year when they were babies. Sadly, their owner had to move to an apartment where they couldn't have dogs and now these two are in need of new homes. We know that there is a wonderful home out there for them and we are hopeful to get them there soon to ease their transition.
Riley has grown to be a very handsome boy. He is a little shy at first and needs time and patience to get comfortable with people. Once he adjusts though, he's a great dog. He is house trained and knows all the basic obedience commands. We know that with the right family and some time and love, he will be a wonderful companion. Won't you please help us get Riley home! If you are willing to commit to Riley for the rest of his life, please submit your online adoption application for him today! Riley is being fostered in Buffalo.

UPDATE! Elmer had his surgery on April 22nd to remove the twisted leg and repair his nostrils so he can breath better. We will update on his progress as he heals! Elmer is healing well and is now ready to start shopping for his forever home. If you are interested in adopting him, please submit your application online for him!
This sweet little puggy boy is Elmer. He was happily rescued from a horrible puppy mill and we are going to work hard to raise all the money needed to help this little guy lead a long happy life.
Elmer has a birth defect that has made his one front leg deformed and of no use to him. We have our vet specialists looking at him to decide how best to deal with this leg so that Elmer can have as normal a life as possible. It does appear though that the best remedy will be to remove the leg entirely. He also needed to have an ultrasound done of his brain to see if he has problems inside his head. We are thrilled to report that the ultrasound showed that his brain is completely normal. Elmer also has a condition called Stenotic Nares, where his nostrils are too pinched, not allowing him to get enough air through his nose.
Elmer is going to need to undergo at least one surgery for the front leg and possibly others for his other knees. We are now trying to raise the needed funds to help this sweet little guy. Please click on his donation meter below and help Elmer! Elmer is being fostered in Buffalo.

Meet Fat Boy II, brother to Muscles. These 1 year old boston mix brothers were surrendered by their owner to a Kentucky shelter and have just come into town to find their forever homes. Both boys are very sweet natured and full of fun.
Fat Boy is a very loving little guy and is fully vetted and house trained. He and his brother have been together since they were born and it would be great if we could keep them together, but if we could find them two separate, but perfect homes, we would consider splitting them up. We haven't been able to introduce them to children or cats yet, but don't think either would be a problem. UPDATE! Midnight has had his surgery for his broken femur and is now recovering. He is doing well but will need several months of quiet and rehabilitation. We can adopt him now, but he will need to go to a quiet home with no small children so that his leg can heal properly.
We discovered that poor Midnight came to us with a broken femur. He will now require a $1,000 surgery to remove the head of the femur so that he can walk and not have to lose the entire leg! Poor Midnight has probably been suffering for some time and we just couldn't say no to this procedure. Please click on his donate button below if you can help with his surgical fund!

Tanzy is obviously overweight and is on her doggie South Beach diet plan! She will feel much better and be much more active and healthy once she drops those excess pounds! She is being treated for a urinary tract infection and is responding well to treatment. Tanzy is very sweet and loving and has had wonderful house manners in her foster home. She is very loveable with all people she meets and seems to enjoy the company of the other dogs. She does have food aggression issues with the other dogs, so has to be fed separately and will never be a dog that can be "free-fed" by leaving full food bowls around the house! With the proper diet and antibiotics for her UTI, we are certain that Tanzy will live a long, healthy, happy life with the right home and family. Solomon is a great dog, loves everyone, is crate trained and is doing very well with his house training. He's not quite 100% reliable yet, but he's getting there! Solomon does ok with other dogs, but is a bit jealous and probably wouldn't mind one bit if he was an only dog. From Jetta's foster mom: Jetta is a great dog, like she said. She is very playful, is good about her housemanners and will do well in an active family. She is muscular so would probably do best with older children that she won't knock over when she gets excited!
