Meet Nutmeg, she is an 8 month old female Dachshund.  Sadly she was hit by a car and had to have one of her rear legs amputated at the hip.  This has not hindered this busy, happy girl one bit !  She freely runs around the yard exploring and playing with all her foster siblings not knowing any difference..

Nutmeg is 95% house trained but as with any puppy accidents are to be expected.  She is just a little girl weighing a whole 7 pounds so frequent bathroom breaks are needed . If you are going to be gone awhile she is crate trained and will use a potty paper.  She loves chewing on her Nyla Bones and playing with toys , of course her favorite thing is to be with her person.  She is very affectionate.

Nutmeg currently lives with several dogs, her foster family consists of dogs of all sizes and personalities.  While not aggressive to any of them, she prefers the not in your face, calmer, you do your thing I'll do mine friends.  If another (mostly larger or pushier) dog is too close for her comfort her she will simply yipe out of fear.  We are sure with a little more socialization and confidence this will pass.

Please do your research on this breed !  They will require training and a firm owner to prevent gaurding issues which is VERY common among the breed.  They are totally devoted to their person and will protect them .  It is best to work to prevent any negative behaviors BEFORE they start. Doxies can be great dogs if properly trained and socialized as with any breed.
